Hours: School hours are from
7:40 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We have an early closing on Thursdays at noon. Thursday evening is
when the parent support group is held from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. TDS follows the Fairfax
County Public Schools calendar for holidays, snow days, etc.
Eligibility: Adolescents who are in grades 7-12,
ages 12-22, who are emotionally disabled or learning disabled, make up our student body.
Other students who could benefit from a highly structured, therapeutic environment with
individualized instruction are also accepted. Most moderate and severe disabling
conditions, such as those requiring physical restraints, isolation booths or continuous
individual assistance cannot be serviced. We serve students from the counties of Fairfax,
Arlington, Loudoun, Stafford, Spotsylvania, the cities of Alexandria and Falls Church and
the District of Columbia
Admissions: Referrals are accepted from school
systems, physicians, therapists, community agencies, and family members. An interview and
a submittal of previous school and medical records are required. TDS does not discriminate
on the basis of race, gender, creed or color.
Tuition: Funding for the program may be
available through the local school systems under Public Law 94-142. Therefore, tuition and
transportation costs are typically paid for by the public school system. |
